Combo Class

Our combination classes are perfect for the younger dancer and a great introduction to dance and movement! This fun class focuses on the fundamentals of ballet and tap, as well as introducing other styles such as jazz and hip hop. It is a great way for students to experience all different styles of dance while learning how to express themselves through movement!

Ballet

Ballet classes are offered in all levels, as it is the foundation of ALL dance styles! Students are taught proper body alignment and placement, barre and center work, as well as across the floor combinations. Beginner classes will introduce basic ballet vocabulary, proper alignment, and classical ballet technique. Advanced classes will include adagio and allegro work, balance, and strength. All students are encouraged to take ballet, as it furthers success in all disciplines of dance!

Contemporary

Contemporary dance features a wide variety of of dance techniques combined with emotion and style. In this class, students will learn how to use their bodies in a variety of ways as well as incorporating technique, body alignment, and emotion. Designed for the more advanced dancer, this class pushes each student’s artistic movement to the limit!

Lyrical

Lyrical is a fusion of ballet, modern, and jazz. This class consists of a more fluid and sustained movement than contemporary and allows dancers to express a range of emotions through their dancing. This class is perfect for the student that loves to express themselves and are passionate about movement!

Jazz

Jazz was one of the first forms of American dance and even today, is ever changing and evolving! This fun and energetic class includes elements such as kicks, leaps, turns, splits, and isolations. Each class will also consist of stretching and strengthening exercises, across the floor progressions, and a center floor combinations using hip and upbeat music From musical theater to jazz funk, each class is filled with a different style of American jazz!

Tap

This class emphasizes the flow of movement by teaching each dancer the importance of rhythm and beats not only in the music, but in their own bodies! Beginning classes will focus on fundamental tap movements, vocabulary, and basic rhythms that will progress into fun and upbeat combinations. More advanced classes will involve more intricate rhythms and combinations. Tap is a great way to develop musicality, timing, and balance!

Creative Movement

Our tiny tot program is designed to introduce basic movement with a emphasis on fun and discovery. While introducing different styles of movement, these tots learn to interact with one another in a kind and disciplined manner. Our goal of our tiny tot program is to instill the love of dance into each and every child!

Hip-Hop

Hip-hop is a high energy class that includes isolations, rhythm, free-styling, and funky foot work! This class is about personal style and expression and can be taught to anyone who has a passion to move!

Acro

In this class, dancers will learn the basics of acrobatics all the way through elite level skills. Each class will begin with conditioning and stretching, followed by a progressional style warm up. Students will learn the basics of Acro in a beginner class (walkovers, cartwheels, etc.), while advanced class students will progress onto higher level skills (aerials, hand springs, back tucks, etc.).  Students of any age will progress on an individual basis.

*Please note this schedule is subject to change.
*All classes with 4 or less kids, besides our 30 minute classes, will be canceled or combined with another class.
*There will be a $25 charge for all returned checks
*All dancers can make-up two classes per session. Make-ups do not roll over to the next session and must be approved by the front desk or via email. Please email [email protected] to schedule a makeup class.
There will be a $35 annual registration fee due at the beginning of the session. Each additional sibling is $15.

Recital & Costume Fee:

Costume fee of $110 will be due during 2nd session if you choose to participate in recital. This fee includes one costume and all of the other work that goes into putting on DDA’s annual recital. Each additional costume is $70. Please note this does not include the cost of tickets.

New Cancelation policy:

All cancellations must be made within 14 days of your dancer's first day of class and will be issued as a Definition Dance credit. All cancellations made 14 days after your dancer's first class will be non refundable. Definition Dance credits can be used towards anything in the future including summer camps and do not expire. Registration Fees are non refundable. In the event that Definition Dance cancels a class due to low enrollment, all money paid will be refunded including the deposit.

Summer Camp Cancelation policy:

You may cancel for up to two weeks before the start date of the camp you are registered for in return for a full Definition Dance credit. However, we will not be issuing cash refunds for cancellations due to limited space.

Covid 19 Class Cancelation Policy:

If we are forced to close the studio due to covid 19 and the Chicago guidelines, you will have a choice to to participate in zoom at regular class time or use the remainder of the class tuition as a definition dance credit.
